How to get Started Blogging

There are many different blogging platforms for your personal use,  Wordpress, Blogger, Typepad and Posterous to name a few.  These blog sites are popular and we all know them as they've become main stream in the past two years.  There are many strategic benefits to actively running a blog including communication and building authority with customers and Google.  (I assume that your blog would have backlinks to your own web-site.)  

If you decide to blog, make sure that the name in the URL does not include .wordpress.com or .blogger.com.  The reason is that you are building authority for Blogger or Wordpress - not your site.  Try blog.yourcompany.com or company.com/blog, etc.  Or you choose a name relevant to the subject you are blogging on.  The only caution here is that you will need to 2x as hard to build authority because you now have two sites to manage.  Again, the more of an authority that Google thinks that you have and authority is driven by links, the higher you move in the rankings and we know from previous posts how valuable Google to filling your lead generation funnel.  The better option may be to run your blog through your company site, but you will need to evaluate the pros and cons of the different options.
